ABOUT OUR PHILANTHROPY

Arthritis

Alpha Omicron Pi’s international philanthropy is arthritis, and our philanthropy partner is the Arthritis Foundation. Since 1967, members and chapters have raised millions of dollars to fund research, provide resources, and support those affected by arthritis, a disease that disproportionately impacts women and also affects children.

AOII’s philanthropy dollars support several impactful Arthritis Foundation initiatives, including the Juvenile Arthritis Power Pack program, Juvenile Arthritis Camps, the Juvenile Arthritis Family Summit, and the 24/7 Helpline. Our Canadian sisters proudly support The Arthritis Society of Canada, furthering our shared mission to fight arthritis and improve lives.

OUR Local Efforts

Alpha Omicron Pi is proud to support the Arthritis Foundation, our international philanthropy, through our fundraising efforts and service opportunities. At these events, our members work to support individuals affected by arthritis, which disproportionately impacts women and children. At Mu Lambda, philanthropy is an essential part of our chapter experience. Each year, members come together to participate in events, organized by our Director of Philanthropy, that raise awareness and support our cause while strengthening our sisterly bond and connections with the Rollins community. We are so grateful for our Director of Philanthropy and all of the time and effort she puts into planning these meaningful events and helping our chapter make a positive impact. Our largest fall philanthropy event is Putt for a Purpose, held during Mu Lambda’s annual Dad’s Weekend in partnership with Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE). This event brings together students, families, and the campus community for a mini-golf tournament benefiting the Arthritis Foundation. Participants play through different mini-golf holes, enjoy friendly competition, and support our chapter’s philanthropy through donations and event participation. By combining family involvement, campus engagement, and service, Putt for a Purpose has become a meaningful tradition for our chapter and an exciting way to raise both funds and awareness. In Spring 2026, our chapter hosted Splash Out Arthritis, a philanthropy event that raised over $500 for the Arthritis Foundation. The event gave participants the opportunity to support the cause through a fun water-themed activity while bringing attention to arthritis awareness and our chapter’s national philanthropy. We also partnered with Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) for a collaborative car wash fundraiser, where members washed cars in exchange for donations from students, families, and community members. The car wash raised $279 in total, with $139 donated directly to the Arthritis Foundation in support of our philanthropy. In addition to our fundraising efforts, Mu Lambda is also committed to serving the local community through hands-on service opportunities. This year, our members participated in a beach clean-up, where sisters worked together to remove trash and help protect the local environment. We also partnered with X-Club for a collaborative service event called Base Camp, where members helped clean out a children’s play facility and organize items so they could be given to families and individuals who needed them. These local service efforts allowed our chapter to make a direct impact beyond campus while continuing to live out AOII’s values of service, generosity, and community involvement.
